Gaza strip is a narrow piece of land located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea
It is bordered by Israel to the east and north, and Egypt to the southwest.
It is ranked as the third most densely populated in the world with a population of 2 million in just 365 square kilometers of land area.
It is one of the two Palestinian territories, alongside the West Bank.
The area has been governed by the political and militant Islamist group Hamas since 2007 and has been under blockade since then.
