THE DHOLE OR ASIATIC WILD DOG 

1. It is the only endangered wild pack-living canid in the tropical Indian forests
2. It is considered at high risk of extinction with endangered category on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List
3. The diurnal activity of the dholes had the highest temporal overlap with leopards and the lowest with clouded leopards.
4. Sympatric refers to animals, plant species, and populations within the same or overlapping geographical areas.
5. They operate in packs of 5 to 10, but dholes were once widespread in larger groups of more than 30 across southern and eastern Asia.
6. Factors that have contributed to the ongoing fragmentation of its populations include:
   1. Habitat loss
   2. Declining prey availability
   3. Persecution
   4. Disease
   5. Interspecific competition.
7. The sympatric association such as overlapping prey availability or habitat suitability have facilitated co-existence or even cooperative behaviours between dholes and tigers in Manas National Park.
