Location and Landscape

The Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve is located in Tamil Nadu and lies at the strategic junction of the Eastern Ghats and the Western Ghats within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
It forms a crucial ecological corridor connecting:

  • Mudumalai Tiger Reserve

  • Bandipur Tiger Reserve

  • Biligiri Ranganatha Swamy Temple Tiger Reserve

Terrain and Climate

The reserve features hilly and undulating terrain, with elevations ranging from 750 m to 1649 m.
Its climate is
subtropical and dry, characterised by:

  • Hot, dry summers

  • Bhavani River

  • Moyar River
