Categories of Awards
The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar is conferred under four distinct categories, each highlighting a different dimension of scientific excellence.
The Vigyan Ratna is awarded for lifetime achievements in science and technology, recognizing individuals with a long-standing and impactful career. The Vigyan Shri honours distinguished contributions in a specific field, acknowledging sustained excellence.
The Vigyan Yuva–Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award is aimed at young scientists below the age of 45, encouraging emerging talent and exceptional promise in research and innovation. The Vigyan Team Award recognizes collaborative excellence, and is given to teams of three or more members who have worked together to achieve significant scientific outcomes.
