The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers recently announced that the Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS) has entered a new phase with the introduction of several digital initiatives.
The Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS) is a digital platform for managing fertilizer distribution and related activities across India.
It is developed and technically supported by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) for the Department of Fertilizers.
The platform connects key stages of the fertilizer ecosystem, including production, imports, movement, stock availability, retail sales and subsidy processing.
iFMS provides online services related to fertilizer distribution and management. These include dealer registration, stock availability tracking, dealer search, and access to Management Information System (MIS) and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) reports.
The platform connects different stages of the fertilizer supply chain, from production and imports to transportation, retail sales and subsidy processing. This helps officials monitor fertilizer availability and movement across the country.
iFMS operates at the national level and covers more than 14 crore Aadhaar-linked fertilizer buyers and over 2.5 lakh retailers.
The newly introduced dashboards provide officials with a consolidated view of fertilizer production, imports, dispatches, movement, stocks and retail sales.
These tools support monitoring at the national, State, district and retailer levels, helping authorities identify unusual trends and emerging supply-related issues at an early stage.
Improved Supply Chain Management: Integration of fertilizer-related information helps authorities monitor the movement of fertilizers from production and imports to retail distribution.
Better Monitoring of Availability: Stock-tracking facilities and analytical dashboards help identify potential shortages and emerging supply problems.
Transparency in Subsidy Management: Integration with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) reports supports monitoring of fertilizer subsidy-related processes.
Data-Driven Decision-Making: Real-time and consolidated information can help officials make better-informed decisions regarding fertilizer distribution and availability.
