A Kerala-based start-up has delivered the Akasha300 3D Printer to the Indian Space Research Organisation, marking a significant step toward India’s self-reliance in advanced manufacturing technologies.

The Akasha300 is a high-temperature, multi-material extrusion 3D printer designed for industrial and research applications. It has been developed with support from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology through its Space Technology Innovation and Incubation Centre, along with the Kerala Startup Mission.

It represents a collaborative innovation ecosystem involving academia, startups, and government support.

Key Features of Akasha300

Advanced High-Temperature Capability

The printer uses dual-extrusion technology and can operate at temperatures up to 350°C, with future upgrades expected to extend this limit to 500°C. This allows the use of advanced engineering materials.

Modular and Flexible Design

Its modular extruder system allows the addition of multiple extrusion units, enabling hybrid manufacturing techniques that combine different materials and processes.

Thermal Control System

The printer includes a heated bed (up to 110°C, upgradeable to 150°C) and an enclosed chamber that maintains temperatures up to 80°C. This ensures stable printing conditions for sensitive materials.
